Monção ((:mõˈsɐ̃w)) is a municipality in the district of Viana do Castelo in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 19,230,〔(Instituto Nacional de Estatística )〕 in an area of 211.31 km².〔(Direção-Geral do Território )〕
The current Mayor is Socialist Party's José Emílio Pedreira Moreira. The municipal holiday is March 12.
It is the birthplace of José Gomes Temporão, current Minister of Health of Brazil.
